For our spring bird trip we are going to Texas and Florida.
In Florida the snail kites at Lake Tohopekaliga in the Orlando area are our focus. We hope to do better than our last snail kite quest when we spent two days in Argentina looking for them only to find a drought had eliminated all the snails in the area. And without their food, the snail kites went elsewhere. Then we are going to visit Jon’s brother in Jacksonville and maybe doing a little shooting at the St Augustine Alligator Farm.
Then it is off to the lower Rio Grande area around McAllen, Texas to photograph song birds and raptors out of the blinds on Laguna Seca Ranch. And yes, you can see Mexico across the Rio Grande River where we will be.
